After the announcement of general mobilization in Lebanon in the beginning of March 2020, economic pressures mounted, affecting all segments of Lebanese society. Different associations took initiative as a result, including churches.

Based on the situation, various parish committees attached to the Assyrian Church of the East in Lebanon decided to allocate food rations for parish families. So it was that ASC worked on allocating 800 parcels of food and cleaning supplies to various parishes for distribution during the month of April, starting with the distribution on April 16.

The parcels were allocated as follows:

  • Church of Mar Zaya, Zahle–120 parcels
  • Church of Raban Pethion, Hadath–120 parcels
  • Church of Mar Khananya, Ashrafiye–76 parcels
  • Church of Mar Giwargis, Sad El Baouchrieh–484 parcels

Each parcel contained the following food items:

  • 1 kg sugar
  • 1 kg salt
  • 1 kg white beans
  • 1 kg red beans
  • 1 kg lentils
  • 1 kg Egyptian rice
  • 1 kg Italian rice
  • 1 kg flour
  • 1 kg chickpeas
  • 1 Spaghetti
  • 400 g tomato sauce
  • 1liter oil bottle

Cleaning supplies included:

  • Eau de Javel, La Croix, 1 liter
  • Liquid hand soap
  • Hand sanitizer gel
  • Dettol, 1/2 liter
